Notes:
The Swim – 400m in Scissett Baths (is actually a real swimming pool)
Not a 25m pool, so will be 18 lengths measuring in at 412m.
The Cycle – 16km, a little short of the standard 20km distance. This is due to keeping the route as safe as I can make it for you. The route takes you on the A636 towards Wakefield for 3km of flat riding, before turning left onto Woodhouse Lane for a challenging climb up into Emley village. You will be able to see Emley Moor TV Mast in front of you, and this marks the peak of your ascent. (For those who love figures, you will have climbed 160m). The road then winds down into Shelley where a left turn takes you onto the B6116 towards Skelmanthorpe. After the hill, this is a chance to turn the cadence up and fly through Skelmanthorpe back down to Scissett. Just remember to slow down for the left turn back onto the A636.
The Run - 4.5km, following the track behind the swimming pool, leading onto Pilling Lane (hard track) into Skelmanthorpe village, before returning on the pavement along the cycle course.
Start Times - These will be allocated the week before the race. Estimated swim times from your application will be used to decide swim start times. The slowest swimmers will be starting at 13.30, with the fastest swimmers starting later determined by the number of competitors. Latest start time will be 17.00.
Finish – Quality T-shirts for all competitors, plus awards for top 3 finishers in various categories. (To be confirmed from entry numbers).
Bikes – Mountain bikes permitted. Helmets must be worn.
Rules- Please refer to British Triathlon rules on the website www.britishtriathlon.org
